Project Timothy – Kenya |
|
We have been made part of an unbroken chain. Paul
- Timothy - faithful pastors - others who are taught
the apostolic doctrine. This pattern of carefully passing
on the faithfully entrusted message is the heartbeat of the
Christian church and her mission. God, just on account of
the death of Jesus, puts sinners right with Himself – gives life to the dead – by grace alone through faith alone. This
is a message to be proclaimed!
From its inception the Christian church has sent teachers.
Well-trained pastors are critically needed in Kenya. The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenya is the fastest-growing Lutheran church in Africa today at a rate of 17.6%.The
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenya has a mere 140
pastors to serve 700 congregations with 100,000 members. Project Timothy-Kenya is dedicated specifically to
providing a remedy for this crying need, equipping
leaders for the dramatically growing church in Africa. |

“You’ve heard my message, and it’s been confirmed
by many witnesses. Entrust this message to faithful
individuals who will be competent to teach others.”
2 Timothy 2:2 (GWTN - “God’s Word”)

Rev. Thomas Aadland Rev. Dr. Walter Obare
|
Rev. Dr. Walter Obare
is the Archbishop
of the Evangelical
Lutheran Church in
Kenya. Bishop Obare
has been honored for
his courageous and
articulate defense of orthodox Christianity and confessional
Lutheranism both in Africa and in the heartlands of the Reformation. In 2007, Dr. Obare invited Rev. Thomas V. Aadland to teach at Matongo Lutheran Theological College for at least two-years. Rev. Professor Aadland, who
served as Presiding Pastor of The American Association
of Lutheran Churches from 1999 to 2007, accepted the call of the ELCK, has now extended for a period of five years, and has been appointed Dean of the Theological Faculty.
|
“My goal is to help strengthen ELCK’s bold witness to Christ in our day in the face of social upheaval, societal unrest, and religious pluralism,” says Pastor Aadland. “By God’s hand I am serving here to help the ELCK equip leaders and to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those who do not yet believe in Him.”
We invite you to join us and a growing list of supporters,
donors and contributors to this worthy effort, and we are
pleased to make this appeal on behalf of Project Timothy-
